About this test
Correctly predicting the future is not only about assessing the risk of recurrence, but above all about checking whether chemotherapy will actually help the patient.
The Ataraxis® Breast CTX test does not rely on averaged results for large groups of patients; instead it analyses, using artificial intelligence (AI), the individual situation of each woman.
The test material is an H&E slide (preparation) from a biopsy or surgery. A copy of the histopathology report must be delivered to the laboratory together with the material.

Who is this test for?
Ataraxis Breast CTX assesses the individual benefit of adding adjuvant chemotherapy to hormone therapy in patients with stage I–III invasive breast cancer; unlike the RISK test, it is intended exclusively for tumours with hormone receptor expression and without HER2 overexpression (HR+ HER2-), and therefore does not apply to HER2-positive or triple-negative (TNBC) cancers.

Which Ataraxis test should I choose?
The right test depends on the moment of treatment and the molecular subtype of the tumour.
Ataraxis Breast RISK assesses the risk of recurrence in patients with stage I–III invasive breast cancer, regardless of molecular subtype. It answers the question of how high the risk of disease recurrence is within 5 years.
Ataraxis Breast CTX assesses the individual benefit of adding adjuvant chemotherapy to hormone therapy. It is intended exclusively for tumours with hormone receptor expression and without HER2 overexpression (HR+ HER2-), and therefore does not apply to HER2-positive or triple-negative cancers. It answers the question of whether chemotherapy is worth adding to hormone therapy.
Ataraxis Breast NEO assesses the probability of achieving a pathological complete response (pCR) after preoperative treatment, regardless of molecular subtype, lymph node involvement and menopausal status. It is performed on a core-needle biopsy specimen taken at diagnosis, i.e. before surgery. It answers the question of whether treatment preceding surgery has a chance of completely eradicating the tumour.
If your tumour belongs to the HR+ HER2- subtype, the Breast CTX test should be ordered. The same risk of recurrence does not mean the same benefit from chemotherapy; about one quarter of patients classified as high risk derive little benefit from chemotherapy.
